On 7 July 2025, the feast day of Saint John the Baptist in the Orthodox Church, the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly approved the new name of the Parliamentary Friendship Group Italy–Vatican–Sovereign Military Order of Malta.
The president of the Group is MP Jovan Palalić, who played a key role in achieving this important goal.

This represents a valuable opportunity to further raise awareness of the Order of Malta and its activities in Serbia.
It is worth recalling that as early as 2009, a parliamentary friendship group with the Sovereign Military Order of Malta existed in the Serbian Parliament, thanks to the initiative of then-MP Nenad Prokić, currently Minister Counsellor at the Embassy.

H.E. Ambassador Francesco Maria Amoruso expressed great satisfaction with this development and, while thanking Mr. Palalić, stated his willingness to attend a first meeting after the summer break.
