On 25 February, a delegation of the Italy–Holy See–Sovereign Military Order of Malta Friendship Group of the Serbian Parliament, led by its President, Mr. Jovan Palalić, and accompanied by H.E. Francesco Maria Amoruso, Ambassador to the Republic of Serbia, was received at the Magistral Palace of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in Rome.

The delegation was welcomed by H.E. Ambassador Giampaolo Cantini, Secretary General for Foreign Affairs. A particularly warm and unexpected moment of the visit was the meeting with His Most Eminent Highness the Grand Master, Fra’ John T. Dunlap.

After the Secretary General offered an overview of the Order’s history and its humanitarian activities around the world, Mr. Palalić addressed the gathering. Conveying greetings from the Speaker of the Serbian Parliament, he recalled the atmosphere of genuine cordiality and mutual respect that marked the recent meeting in Belgrade, reaffirming the shared commitment to further strengthening institutional dialogue. He also highlighted the intention to promote, in the coming months, initiatives aimed at enhancing public awareness in Serbia of the Order of Malta and its mission.

During the friendly exchange, Mr. Palalić conveyed his heartfelt appreciation for the warm welcome and for the opportunity to meet, emphasizing that continued dialogue between the two institutions is vital to strengthening and further developing a partnership that is stable, effective, and mutually rewarding.

The members of the delegation subsequently took part in a lively discussion, raising numerous questions and demonstrating a strong interest in deepening their understanding of the Order’s structure, mission, and wide-ranging activities.

The visit concluded with the customary group photographs, symbolically reaffirming the strong ties between the Order of Malta and the Republic of Serbia, which this year celebrate the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
