Order of St John of Jerusalem of
Rhodes and of Malta
In the beautiful setting of the garden of the Archiepiscopal Residence in Belgrade, the National Day of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in Serbia was celebrated on the occasion of the Feast of Saint John the Baptist, the Order’s patron saint.
On 16 May, we had the privilege of welcoming His Excellency, the newly appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Serbia, to the Embassy for a courtesy visit. The meeting provided a valuable opportunity for an in-depth exchange of views on the current situation in Ukraine and the devastating consequences of the ongoing conflict, with particular attention to its humanitarian impact and the protection of the country's historical, cultural, and spiritual heritage.
A cooperation agreement has been signed for the implementation of the project “Comprehensive Support to the Homeless in Belgrade,” funded by the Order of Malta Donors for Projects (OMDP), a centralized foundation established by the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (SMOM). The agreement was concluded between the Embassy in Belgrade, acting as the donor and contracting party, and ADRA Serbia, which will serve as the implementing partner.
On 25 February, a delegation of the Italy–Holy See–Sovereign Military Order of Malta Friendship Group of the Serbian Parliament, led by its President, Mr. Jovan Palalić, and accompanied by H.E. Francesco Maria Amoruso, Ambassador to the Republic of Serbia, was received at the Magistral Palace of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in Rome.
The Embassy of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in Serbia, in cooperation with the Dante Alighieri Society of Vranje, was pleased to support the participation in the Apulia region of the musical ensemble “Branko” from the city of Leskovac, recently designated Serbia’s Capital of Culture.
Ambassador Francesco M. Amoruso paid a visit in Rome to one of the collection centers organized by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS).
Great satisfaction for the ceremony held at the Magistral Palace for the presentation of the postage stamp issued by the Serbian Post to commemorate the 140th anniversary of the donation of a hospital train from the Order of Malta to the Kingdom of Serbia.
The personalized stamp, “140th Anniversary of the First Donation of the Order of Malta to the Kingdom of Serbia,” was presented on October 24 at the PTT Museum in Belgrade. Speaking on the symbolism of this issue, commemorating the long-standing cooperation between Serbia and the Order of Malta, were Francesco M. Amoruso, Ambassador of the Order of Malta in Serbia; Dr. Sima Avramović, Ambassador of Serbia to the Holy See and the Order of Malta; and Zoran Anđelkovic, Acting Director of the Serbian Post.
