Ambassador Francesco Maria Amoruso, head of the delegation from the Embassy of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, attended the Christmas Concert at the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Zemun. Three years ago, to mark the church’s 300th anniversary, the embassy made a donation to help protect the building from moisture damage.

Following the concert, the parish priest, Monsignor Jozo Duspara, hosted a reception, giving the Ambassador the opportunity to meet and engage with members of this historic community. Zemun, now a district of Belgrade, is located on the western bank where the Sava river meets the Danube. The area was once home to the Roman city of Taurunum, established by the Avars in the 6th century.
