On October 23, H.E. Ambassador Francesco Maria Amoruso paid a visit to the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabi\u0107, accompanied by Minister-Counsellor Proki\u0107 and Counsellor Podavini.<\/p>\n
The meeting was also attended by Hon. Jovan Palali\u0107, President of the newly reestablished Parliamentary Friendship Group Serbia\u2013Order of Malta, who was the initiator of the encounter.<\/p>\n
The discussions took place in an atmosphere of friendship and cordiality.<\/p>\n
President Brnabi\u0107 expressed her gratitude for the visit and for the humanitarian activities carried out by the Order of Malta in Serbia, emphasizing their importance for Serbian citizens. She also noted that these initiatives often do not receive the media attention they deserve. In this regard, the President proposed organizing an exhibition at the National Assembly to showcase the Order of Malta\u2019s humanitarian work in Serbia.<\/p>\n
Ambassador Amoruso expressed his great satisfaction with the excellent relations between the Order of Malta and the Republic of Serbia. He presented the activities currently conducted by the Embassy and underlined his belief that the National Assembly and the Friendship Group can play a key role in identifying and promoting the Order\u2019s humanitarian and social initiatives. The Ambassador also addressed the issue of import taxes on goods intended for donation.<\/p>\n
President Brnabi\u0107 acknowledged awareness of the problem and noted that a potential solution could be found \u2014 perhaps not through amendments to the existing regulation, but by adopting a decision granting tax exemptions on a case-by-case basis for each donation.<\/p>\n
At the conclusion of the meeting, Hon. Palali\u0107 thanked President Brnabi\u0107 for recognizing the importance of this cooperation.<\/p>\n
